Be a Bee Hugger!

Transform your yard into a pollinator paradise.

Wild bees need our help. Many populations are declining due to habitat loss, disease and pesticide poisoning.

There are about 20,000 known bee species worldwide, more than 800 native to Canada. Each is unique and pollinates different plants at different times.

Protecting pollinators means not using harmful pesticides and providing welcoming habitat. Even a small pollinator garden will bring in many species, especially native bees. It’s easier than you think!

A manicured lawn is pollinator-unfriendly. But a yard, community, garden, patio or window box filled with native plants can be a pollinator paradise!

The Green Buildings Open House is a self-guided tour of high-performance and sustainable building practices in the Bow Valley.

These are open-house tours. Just make your own way to the homes at the times they are open, and the homeowners and volunteers will show you around. You do not need to register in advance for the tour, but we encourage low-carbon forms of transportation.

You are welcome to visit as many homes as you like but visit three locations, collect three stamps and be entered into a prize draw for some great prizes!
