Bow Valley WildSmart provides a weekly summary of Bear Activity and a monthly summary of Wildlife Activity in the Bow Valley between Banff Park Gate to Bow Valley Provincial Park.
Those summaries are based upon a compilation of bear and wildlife information provided by government agencies and unconfirmed sightings reported by the public each week. They are not intended to be used as a real time, complete record of where bears are in the valley.
The summaries are intended to provide information to the public that will allow them to make better, informed decisions about where and how bears and other wildlife recreate in the Bow Valley. Ultimately, the hope is that this type of information will reduce the number of wildlife-human interactions resulting in reduced human injuries, property damage and human-caused wildlife mortality.
