Summary

It’s spring and the bears are out and about in the Bow Valley. Bears have been waking up over the last few weeks and are being spotted along highways and trails, feeding on dandelions and other grasses. In an incident near the Kananaskis Lakes, a bear made contact with a tent during the night. No one was injured and no attractants were found in the tent. For more information see the Rocky Mountain Outlook article here. Please remember that you can encounter a bear at any time while recreating outdoors. Be aware of your surroundings, make noise while hiking and biking, when possible travel in groups, carry bear spray and know how to use it.
