Bear Activity: October 23 to 29, 2015

There was a single black bear sighting this week in Bow Valley Provincial Park. A grizzly bear was reported at the Canmore Nordic Centre. While sightings are less frequentsome bears are still active , particulalry grizzly bears. Hunting season continues in the Bow Valley, so be aware of animal remains left from successful hunts that could attract bears and other scavenging animals like cougars, wolves and coyotes.

Bear Activity: October 16 to 22, 2015

There was a single black bear sighting this week in Bow Valley Provincial Park. Bear sightings are less frequent now as black bears start to think about heading for dens. Grizzly bears are still active , many of them higher up in sub alpine areas digging for roots. Hunting season continues in the Bow Valley, so be aware of animal remains left from successful hunts that could attract bears and other scavenging animals like cougars, wolves and coyotes.

Bear Activity: October 9 to 15, 2015

There was only a single bear sighting this week in the Bow Valley in the Bow River Channel East Zone. This may be a result of less recreational use i.e. less people around to report bears and the fact that some bears are starting to den up. Having said that, there are still bears out and people should continue to be aware of their surroundings as they move about the valley.

Hunting season has begun so be on the lookout for animal remains left from successful hunts that could attract bears and other animals.
