Bear Activity: July 24 to 30, 2015

Black bear activity continues to occur in and around the Town of Canmore. Buffaloberries are sporadic in the valley and bears are on the move looking for that bumper crop. Black bears were reported in Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Rundleview, Grassi Corridor, South Industrial, TSR Resort, TSR South, Alpine Club, Exshaw, YMCA and Bow Valley Prov Park. Grizzly bear activity was reported in Wind Valley this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let wildlife know you are coming. Bear Activity: July 17 to 23, 2015

Black bear activity was widespread in the valley last week with only one confirmed grizzly bear report occurring. Black bears were reported in Georgetown, Bow River West, Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Rundleview, Grassi Corridor, Alpine Club, Deadmans Flats, Heart Creek and Bow Valley Prov Park. Grizzly bear activity was reported at Georgetown along the Bow river this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let wildlife know you are coming. Bear Activity: July 10 to 16, 2015

Bear activity was relatively quiet last week in the Bow Valley. Black bears were reported in Harvie Heights West, Harvie Heights Benchlands, Silvertip, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Rundleview, Grassi Corridor, YMCA and Bow Valley Prov Park. Grizzly bear activity was reported at TSR South this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let wildlife know you are coming. Kananaskis Parks Day!

Kananaskis Parks Day is happening THIS SUNDAY JULY 19th at Willow Rock Campground in Bow Valley Provincial Park!

Bear Activity: July 3 to July 9, 2015

Bear activity is being reported across much of the Bow Valley – likely an indication of the increased human use in many areas of the valley now that school is out. Black bears were reported in Georgetown, Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Bow River West, TSR Resort, Alpine Club, Yamnuska, YMCA, Bow Valley Prov Park and Wind Valley. Grizzly bear activity was reported at Canmore Nordic Centre, TSR South, Bow Flats and Yamnuska this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let wildlife know you are coming. The elk closure on Larch Island has been reopened. Bear Activity: June 26 to July 2, 2015

Buffalberry season is here – some areas in the Bow Valley now have ripe red/ orange berries. This will bring bears down into the valley bottom to feed, so be aware of bears feeding trailside or in other areas where bufflaberry grows. Black bears were reported in the Harvie Heights West, Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, TSR Resort, Alpine Club, Gap Hill, Bow Flats, Yamnuska and Wind Valley. Grizzly bear activity was reported at Harvie Heights West, Silvertip, TSR Resort and Heart Creek this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let bears know you are coming.
