Bear Activity: June 19 to 25, 2015

WThe buffalberry season is almost upon us. The berry crop looks very good in places, berries are still green but could ripen this week. This will bring bears down into the valley bottom for the start of the berry season.. Black bears were reported in the Harvie Heights West, Harvie Heights/ Benchlands, Georgetown, Bow River West, Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Grassi Corridor, North Canmore, Silvertip, Alpine Club, Gap Hill, Bow Flats, Deadmans Flats, YMCA, . Grizzly bear activity was reported at Harvie Heights/ Benchlands, Grassi Corridor, Silvertip, Yamnuska this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let bears know you are coming. Bear Activity: June 12 to 18, 2015

Bears continue to be active in and around the Town of Canmore. Black bears were reported in the following Zones this week: Harvie Heights/ Benchlands, Canmore Nordic Centre, Quarry/ Grassi Lake, Bow River West, Canmore Golf Course, Rundleview, South Canmore, North Canmore, Cougar Creek/ Eagle Terrace, Deadmans Flats, TSR Resort, TSR South, Bow River East, Yamnuska, . Grizzly bear activity was reported at Alpine Club and Bow River East, this week . Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let bears know you are coming. Be aware that elk are calving at the moment and the moms can be quite aggressive if they feel their calves are being threatened by people. Bear Activity: June 5 to 11, 2015

Bears are quite active in the Bow Valley at the moment. Black bears were reported in the following Zones this week: Harvie Heights/ Benchlands, Georgetown, Canmore Nordic Centre, Canmore Golf Course, North Canmore, Rundleview, Quarry / Grassi Lake, Grassi Corridor, South Canmore, Bow River, Silvertip, Cougar Creek/ Eagle Terrace, Deadmans Flats, TSR South, Bow des Arcs and Gap Hill. There was no grizzly bear activity reported this week but there were a few reports where the species could not be identified. They occured in in Harvie Heights West, Harvie Heights/ Benchlands and Cougar Creek/ Eagle Terrace. Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let bears know you are coming. Be aware that elk are calving at the moment and the moms can be quite aggressive if they feel their calves are being threatened by people. Bear Activity: May 29 to June 4, 2015

Bears have been moving around quite a bit over the past week. There are a couple of brown black bears that are being reported as grizzly bears in the valley. Black bears were reported in the following Zones this week: Canmore Nordic centre, Quarry / Grassi Lake, Grassi Corridor, South Canmore, Bow River, Alpine Club, Deadmans Flats, TSR South, Bow des Arcs. Grizzly bear activity was reported in Harvie Heights West. Always remember to carry bear spray, even while walking on the trails in Town. Make noise and let bears know you are coming. Be aware that elk are calving at the moment and the trail on the south side of the Bow river downstream of the engine bridge is currently closed due to aggressive elk (w calve)http://albertaparks.ca/kananaskis-country/advisories-public-safety/advisory/portion-of-bow-river-trail-in-canmore.aspx .
