• Use bear-proof bins; ensure the lid is in working order and securely fastened before you leave.
• Securely store garbage at all times; do not leave outside even for a minute.
• Composting of kitchen waste should be done indoors to prevent attracting bears and other wildlife.
• If you have a curb-side recycling service, thoroughly wash and rinse all food and beverage containers. Always store recyclables inside until the morning of pick up. If you have afternoon pick up, put recyclables out at noon.
• Consider purchasing a bear-proof recycling bin
